Target Setting
Monitoring
  • Safety is one of our core values and we seek to prevent all injuries. The safety and security of our operations will impact on customers’ perception of our services and their willingness to use them. It also impacts on our employees’ commitment to delivering quality services.
  • We are committed to delivering services in line with our promises to customers. We depend on our customers for the growth and profitability of the business. We need to engage with them effectively and deliver reliable services that they value and continue to use.
  • Our people are pivotal in delivering our commitments to customers but will only do so if they are properly trained and proud of what they do.
  • We need to minimise our environmental footprint so we can continue to play a leading role in driving down emissions from the transport sector.
  • The community represents our customers, employees and neighbours. Effective partnerships and engagement with local communities is essential.

Our Management Framework

Reporting directly to the Executive Management Board, our CSR Steering Committee oversees the development of our CSR framework. The Committee is chaired by the Group Commercial Director who is the Executive Management Board member responsible for CSR. Membership also includes the Chief Executive, the Managing Directors of the UK Bus and Rail divisions and the Presidents of each operating division in North America.

Responsibility for implementing targets and objectives and monitoring performance lies with each division, led by the Divisional Board and delivered through a supporting management structure. In addition, a CSR Working Group provides additional resources to facilitate effective co-ordination of CSR activity across the Group.

Assessment of CSR risks is fully integrated into our risk and controls assessment processes, the results of which are reviewed by our internal audit function. Group and divisional risk assessments are conducted and reviewed on a six-monthly basis. Material risks covering safety, customer, employee and environmental management are included in this process.
