Diversity
We are an equal opportunity employer, committed to ensuring equal treatment and equal opportunities for all employees and customers.
Our overseas recruitment programme and relationship with Jobcentre Plus have rapidly increased the diversity of our workforce and we have a number of depots where the workforce is represented by a wide range of nationalities and ethnic groups.
We recognise that with growing workforce diversity and the need to better demonstrate our commitment to diversity, we must improve our data gathering and reporting processes. In the coming year, we will implement a database to capture diversity data for new UK Bus recruits.
Our focus on diversity is reflected in our working on the new Investors in Diversity (IiD) award programme. We are currently working towards IiD accreditation in our Hampshire and Dorset operations, London operations and our Information Services Division. We plan to use this experience to roll out the standard across all of our operating companies and hope to be one of the first large corporate employers to achieve the standard.
We are also supporting the UK Year of Diversity 2007 which aims to raise the profile of diversity across the UK. Our Director of Learning and Development sits on the National Centre for Diversity Advisory Board.
